PHASE 2: Maui TERTIARY EDUCATION Stream
DATES: 2021 onward
STATUS: Relationship Established
Co-development of a Maui skills stream with OTAGO POlytechnic and CODE as part of a formal education -
We anticipate a skills shortage in the next 2 years as the demand for developing screen content in NZ grows faster than the capability of its workers. We’re keen to future proof our pipelines by setting up a Dunedin Māui Studio for Māori students, in proximity to industry experts and living commercial projects. This space will function as a hot desk space for students who are picked for the Māui stream as part of their degree at the Otago Polytechnic. Here they can learn from, and have one to one time with Industry professionals who are working on Māui Projects.
Key Outcomes:
Dunedin based Māui Studio
Partnering with Otago Polytechnic and CODE
Gearing Māori/NZ workforce toward the screen industry (horizon careers).
Skills are creative, digital, screen based - link to research.
10 x People at a time (10 x Workstations).
4 x tutors from the Industry to teach these skills weekly
